The GfC mission in Bimbilla now has a reliable power supply! A new solar system with a battery has replaced the unreliable grid. Lighting, water and air conditioning all work perfectly now — and best of all, the sun doesn't send a bill!
PV system Radio Builsa, repaired and improved October 2024
The repair of Radio Builsa's solar installation in northern Ghana has made it possible to provide important information in the local languages of Buli, Frafra and Kasem, and we can now monitor energy consumption and battery data via the manufacturer's portal.

The local radio station needs a battery - at the moment the excess electricity is fed into the grid without being remunerated. With the battery, the electricity can be used by the local radio itself.

A course for installers and designers was held in October 2023. Participants learned how to design PV systems with batteries.

Now that the material has been fully taught, the designer courses could be completed. However, travel is currently very difficult because of the political situation in Burkina Faso.

Solar systems are low maintenance - but not maintenance free. Soiling of the PV modules, water level of the lead batteries, deep discharges, technical defects... require specialized personnel for maintenance and servicing.
