OUR GOAL

FairTrade Energy (FTE) aims to empower people in third world countries to develop their own energy supply. Based on the principle of „helping people to help themselves“, FTE offers practical training courses on the ground.

To enable them to implement what they have learnt independently and sustainably, they are guided in setting up their own businesses and can be supplied directly with the necessary technical equipment by international specialist companies. This creates jobs and prospects for the future.

At the same time, their own energy supply is an important prerequisite for sustainable development and independence. To ensure the long-term operation of the plants, all of them will be equipped with a remote monitoring system. This remote monitoring will help us to support our partners in maintaining the plants in the best possible way.

VISION

FAIRTRADE energy is an association dedicated to providing a stable supply of electricity in Ghana, using a resource that is abundant in Africa: the sun! The aim is to help people in this beautiful country achieve a better quality of life and prosperity, combined with a great opportunity to contribute to global climate change.

A stable supply of electricity is a prerequisite for many things we take for granted. For example: Charging mobile phones, turning on lights at night, education, medical care, agriculture …

In 2017, we submitted a REPIC project and started building solar plants in Ghana. At the moment (May 2023) there are five plants in operation. More are planned to follow.
