The Kientega family in Bobo Dioulasso has been operating a PV system on their own roof for several years – unfortunately, it does not function properly.
No experts were available for the design and choice of materials. They used the cheapest components everywhere… As unfortunately usual in Africa – that’s why we offer our courses. Roger Millogo was one of our students in August 2020, he was sent to Tumu by the Kientage family to attend the course and then improve the PV system together with our engineers. So it happened that two of our engineers made the 500 km trip to Bobo Dioulasso for 10 days. Already in August 2020 the batteries were exchanged for stable solar batteries. Now the whole installation had to be improved. The Kientega’s run a farm for organic farming. A water tower with a solar pump has been in place for several years and now a PV system is to be installed to supply the buildings.
